How To Stop Losing Remotes When You Have Kids

You see that remote in that baby’s hand? That’s gonna be missing in about 15 seconds. Because you’re going to turn away for a moment, you’re going to pop your coffee mug into the microwave (again) and by the time you return, it will be long gone.

Little kids love remotes. But not toy remotes; they’re not falling for that shit. They like the real deal. And as technology improves, the real ones seem to get smaller and thinner and more easily wedged between couch cushions, kicked under the arm chair and buried in a bin of plastic dinosaurs.

Well, Reddit user u/ladyjriggs has a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem. Tape or zip-tie them to large utensils or tools:

Granted, the giant wooden spoon and paint roller probably make that remote even more enticing to a toddler, but at least it’ll be easier to spot in the bottom of the toy chest.

For a softer approach, u/mstaralynn offers another solution: Super-glue them to the “hands” of a stuffed animal. You’ve got to be pretty committed to the cause to go the super-glue route. And as one commenter points out, it may also make your remotes suddenly more appealing to the dog. But it is a cuter alternative.
