Anyone with a phone can tell you that sometimes you have a great data connection, and sometimes you’re not sure you’re going to be able to load a Google search page.
For times when you don’t have the strongest connection or when you’re trying to conserve data, a large image loading in Gmail isn’t exactly ideal. Now Gmail now offers the ability to prevent images from loading automatically, saving your data and helping your email run more efficiently in those limited-connection situations. CNET explained how to use the feature in a post this week.
To activate it launch the Gmail app and then tap the hamburger menu on the top left side of the page (those three lines stacked on top of each other). From there select Settings and then select your Gmail account. Go to “Images” and then select “Ask before displaying external images.”
Now whenever you check your email, images won’t load by default. You’ll still have the option to load them individually if you like, but you can also skip seeing therm on your phone, which should make Gmail run a lot faster in some situations.
