The Internet Reacts To Sony And Disney’s Spider-Man Fallout

Disney has booted Spider-Man – and presumably actor Tom Holland – from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the franchise’s parents, Sony and Disney, were unable to strike a deal. The internet is not coping well.

It will be available this November and it’s bound to shake up Australia’s streaming scene in a big way with Disney likely scrounging for all its content from the various streaming services, like Stan, Foxtel and Netflix, already hosting its content. Here’s everything you need to know, including how much it will cost Aussie subscribers.”]

Negotiation talks failed after Disney, who helped produce Sony’s recent Spider-Man: Far From Home, wanted to split profits evenly, according to reports from Deadline.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is Sony’s most successful movie at the box office, surpassing the 2012 James Bond entrant, Skyfall. There are reportedly two more Spider-Man movies on the way with Tom Holland as the lead but without Disney’s hit unicorn, Kevin Feige, at the helm, it’s unclear how this will change things moving forward. (You can definitely expect zero cameos from MCU characters though – which means no more Happy Hogan.)

The real losers in this scenario aren’t really the two major studios who will continue to reap mammoth profits; it’s the fans that care for these fictional characters and want to see Spidey thrive in the Marvel Universe.

The internet took some time to farewell our friendly neighbourhood Spidey from his Marvel booting.
