The Best Apps For Intermittent Fasting

iOS and Android: Intermittent fasting isn’t magic, but it works well as a weight loss tool for people who manage to stick to it. If that’s you, consider using one of these fasting trackers to remind you of start and end times and to keep tabs on how well you’ve stuck to your plan in the past.

All fasting apps are glorified timers. You tell them when you start your fast, and they’ll count down the hours until you get to eat again. When you’re in a feeding window, they’ll let you know how long is left. Beyond that, they can be as fancy or as simple as you like.

The best all-around: Zero

Zero (free on iOS and Android) is a favourite of many intermittent fasters. It’s got an easy start screen, where you can choose a pre-set type of fast (16 hours fasting, 8 hours eating is a popular one) or set your own. The app keeps track of where you are in your current window and can send you a notification when it ends.

There’s a dashboard to keep track of the average length of your fasts, whether you’ve kept up a multi-day streak, and a place to look at your weight trend over time (if you’ve connected to the Health app). The design is simple, and the app is easy to use.

Simpler apps: Fastient, FastHabit

If you don’t need to schedule fasts in advance, Fastient is a great simple app that lets you start a fast, optionally set a goal, and add notes about how you’re feeling.

FastHabit is even simpler: without needing to create an account, you get a timer for your current fast and a log of your previous fasts. You need to upgrade to the $4.49 version to get reminders for each day’s fasts.
