How To Keep Your Pencil From Rolling Away

If you know me, you know that I hate it when things roll away. Things that roll away slow me down, and they force me to pick them up. It’s inconvenient, and I’m accustomed to an easy life.

So, naturally, when my Editor-in-Chief dropped a pencil rolling prevention hack into Slack, I was thrilled. If this is not a problem you need fixed, it’s probably because you’re more of a pen person — pens have lids with clippy parts that keep them from rolling away. But people who do handy things, or people who simply prefer the smooth grayness of graphite, know the struggle all too well. (Unless they use those flat carpenter pencils, which are also a hack.)

Anyway, you can probably tell from the above photo, but all you have to do make a pencil less prone to rolling away is wrap a little piece of tape around it so the tape sticks out like a little flag. The tape stops any rolling before it begins, and your pencil stays on the table.
