If you find “New Twitter” distracting, now there’s an extension that can help: Simplified Twitter.
Just like how it sounds, the Chrome extension and Firefox add-on takes Twitter’s traditional desktop interface and simplifies it, making it easier to focus on the actual tweets and less on everything else.
Essentially it reduces the massive sidebar menu into smaller icons and ditches the big trends and “who to follow” menus on the righthand side.
It’s super-simple to use, and like all extensions can be toggled on and off as you need or want to.
As someone that finds it oh so easy to get distracted (honestly, I was probably distracted in the first place when I came to Twitter, I think it’s a nice, easy way to tone down the noise so you can instead focus on the tweets.
If you’d prefer Twitter to just look the way it did before the change, there’s also an extension for that. Earlier this week we wrote about Good Twitter, which will essentially take the site back to all its original glory.
