How To Watch ‘The Boys’ On Amazon Prime For Free

Amazon’s new superhero series The Boys is like Marvel’s Deadpool dialed up to 11. Set in a world where ‘supes’ care more about marketing opportunities than saving the world, the series injects new life into the genre (along with every bodily fluid imaginable.)

For those with a dark sense of humour and strong stomachs, here’s how to stream The Boys for free in Australia.

Loosely based on the comic series by Garth Ennis, The Boys is unlike any other superhero show on the planet. It has already caused a huge stir online due to its hyper-violent and very unflattering portrayal of costumed archetypes like Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. (They all sport different names of course, but the inspiration is clear.)

Unlike the lawful good denizens of DC and Marvel, the ‘supes’ in The Boys act like horrible celebrities who are above the law. Imagine if Justin Bieber was invulnerable to bullets and thought he was a god – that’s precisely how most of them behave.

That’s where the Boys come in; a team of government-sanctioned mercenaries charged with keeping ‘misbehaving’ superheroes in line.

Currently, the only way to watch the show is through Amazon Prime Video. This is a streaming platform similar to Netflix that provides access to thousands of movies and TV shows, including original content produced by Amazon. Usually Amazon Prime Video costs $6.99 per month – but there’s a trick to get free access. Here are the required steps.

How to watch The Boys for free

Step #1: Get Amazon Prime

Amazon’s premium membership currently comes with free access to Amazon Prime Video. (In addition to Prime Video, the trial includes free two-day domestic delivery, free standard international delivery on eligible orders over $49 and unlimited access to Prime Music, Prime Reading and Twitch Prime.)

Amazon Prime costs $6.99 a month, but new customers can sign up for a free 30-day trial.

Step #2: Activate your Amazon Prime Video account

Once you’ve got your Amazon Prime trial set up, simply head to the Amazon Prime Video site and click on the ‘Prime Member? Sign In’ button. Follow the prompts to activate your membership.

Step #3: Search for ‘The Boys’ and start streaming

That’s it! You now have 30 days to watch the full season, which should be plenty. (There are eight episodes that run for between 55–66 minutes. While you’re at it, you should also check out some of Amazon’s other original programming such as American Gods, Hannah, The Expanse and Jack Ryan.
