Two-factor authentication is one of those things that’s a good idea to set up pretty much everywhere that will allow you to.
The tool adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts, making it so even if a hacker was able to gain access to your password, they won’t necessarily be able to get into your account.
What you may not realise is that Amazon offers two-factor authentication for accounts on its service, something you definitely want to turn on if you have your credit cards and other info tied to your account. How to Geek pointed the feature out earlier this week.
To set it up you’ll first need to be logged into your Amazon account. Once you are, go to “Your Account” on the site followed by “Login & Security.” Then you want to click the Edit button beside “Two-Step Verification (2SV) Settings.”
From there you’ll see a setting for “Two-Step Verification,” click the “Get Started” button to start setting things up. Essentially, you’ll need to decide whether you’re getting those authentication codes via an Authentication app or via a text to your phone.
Once you make your selection you’ll also be able to make it so you won’t need that double layer of protection (which might get annoying over time) on the personal device you’re using.
That’s it! Now when someone tries to sign in to your Amazon account they’ll need more than your password to go on that unauthorised shopping spree.
