LG’s bonkers dual-screen 5G smartphone – AKA the V50 ThinQ – is finally available to buy in Australia through Telstra. Here are the specs, pricing and available plans for those who dare to be different.
The V50 ThinQ is actually a single-screen handset with a detachable secondary display that will be supplied to Telstra customers free of charge. The display data is transmitted from the main phone to the second display using a very short-range wireless communication method supplied by Keyssa
In addition to the dual-screen option, LG is one of the first Androids to boast 5G comms. (Its current competitors are the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Oppo Reno 5G.)

LG V50 ThinQ Australian plans and pricing
The LG V50 ThinQ costs $1728 to buy outright in Australia. But the smart way to get your hands on the phone is via a mobile plan. Here are your current options:
For our money, the $79 plan has the best data-to-cost ratio. Mind you, 20GB probably won’t last you very long in a 5G-enabled area. With alleged download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps, you could churn through your data allowance in minutes. With that in mind, the $99 50GB plan might be a better option.
LG V50 ThinQ Specifications
As mentioned, the V50 ThinQ boasts a detachable second screen and is compatible with Telstra’s 5G network. But it’s a pretty solid handset even if you discount these chief selling points.
Noteworthy specs include fingerprint and facial recognition scanners, Qualcomm aptX and aptXH audio support, a patented Boombox speaker and a total of four cameras. (A 12-megapixel main and 16-megapixel wide-angle in the rear, and a 8MP main and 5MP wide-angle in the front.) Here’s the full list of specs:
