Keep Track Of Your AirPods With This Magnet Hack

Ever put down an AirPod for a very brief moment only to suddenly forget where you’ve placed it? My kind and wonderful editor, Alice, has had this happen recently, as have I. (Turns out, her AirPod found its way into the bin.)

Over on Reddit, itseday discovered one useful tip if you want to keep track of your stray AirPods: Stick the buds on the corner of your MacBook’s screen when you’re in a rush — the laptop’s case has magnets which will keep your AirPods in place.

In fact, the AirPod case can even stick to your laptop (and wired earbuds, too, though you’re probably less likely to lose these).

It takes a tiny bit of finessing, but it’s super easy. It’s best to stick both AirPods on their front sides, like so:

And you’ll never have to dig through the bin again.

The simple reason magnets are placed in your MacBook’s case is so that it remains closed when shut; similarly, the AirPods and case are built with magnets to keep the buds in place while charging.

And don’t worry, this won’t cause your laptop any harm. The magnets in AirPods are relatively weak; you’d only put your laptop at risk if you had a seriously strong magnet, and even then, it might just cause your MacBook to fall asleep at its very worst.
