Here’s How You Fill A Freezer Bag With Liquid

Laying food flat in a freezer bag is a great way to ensure it freezes evenly and with minimal damage. Getting liquidy foods into a yielding plastic sack, on the other hand, presents quite a challenge.

Although there are bag holders designed to tackled this exact task, I’ve found the best tool for the job is a large measuring cup, which you (should) already have. Just open the bag, nestle it down in the cup, and fold the edges over the rim. Fill it up with soup, stew, or whatever other liquid or gel you need to freeze, then lay it flat, gently coax out any excess air, and give it a zip before laying it down in the freezer.
