Going to the beach during the summer is fun. Going to the beach and realising that you’ve chosen the beach covered in trash with a sketchy water situation is not.
If you’re planning a vacation or day trip to a body of water, Swim Guide can help you make sure your destination is what you’re hoping for. The app has information about over 7,000 different beaches from select countries, including Australia and New Zealand. It also provides descriptions detailing the amenities available, if there are lifeguards and even where you’re allowed to park if you decide to go.
With it, you can search for the closest beach to your current location as well as see if the beach has passed recent water quality tests as well as the percentage of time that the beach has passed tests in the past year. For instance, if a beach only passes a water quality test 10% of the time, even if it’s “safe” now you might want to make other arrangements.
When you find a beach you like, you can bookmark it in the app for later. It can also give you directions on how to get there.
If you’re planning a water-focused trip, it can be a great thing to have (literally) in your back pocket to check things out before you go.
