Video: The Islamic holy month of Ramadan begins on May 6 this year. As an American-Muslim, I find that many of my non-Muslim friends and colleagues still don’t know much about it.
In the video below, I sit down with Aniqa Nawabi, Executive Director of the Muslim Community Network, to discuss the basics of Ramadan and its significance to Muslims around the world.
We address the misconceptions around fasting, the spiritual aspects of the holy month, and the small ways non-Muslims can be supportive of their Muslim friends and family this month.

One response to “Be A Better Ally By Understanding What Ramadan Is All About”
I remember in a street I used to live in there was a Muslim family that lived down the road. We’d never talked to them before but at the end of Ramadan, they invited us to dinner to celebrate the end of Ramadan.
It was a spectacular dinner and we’ve been friends with them ever since. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
