There’s no denying that Costco has some pretty solid deals on things. However, if you only want to shop here a few times a year, the store’s $60+/year membership requirement can be a huge deterrent (and will eat into those dollars you’re saving as well). Yes, you can still get some Costco products without a membership through services like Amazon Now, but if you want to get into the store it’s membership or bust.
We’ve all probably tried the trick when you just tag along with your friend who has a Costco membership for those random shopping trip. This week I was reminded of another tip I’d heard for getting into the store without a membership: buy a gift card.
As an article on Travel + Leisure notes, if you have one of Costco’s gift cards (it calls them Costco Cash) then you can use it at any Costco to make a purchase, even if you don’t actually have a membership. You can also use the cards to shop at Costco online.
Like most things, there is a catch: that Costco Cash card has to be purchased by a Costco member. Still, you could have that pal you tag along with sometimes just nab you one next time they’re in the store (they can also be purchased online) and you’ll be well on your way to buying that discounted 100-pack of toilet paper.

Pretty sure say if it’s just a TV you’re after then Costco has 1 or 2 “non-member” days per year. Or stock up on toilet rolls for the whole year.
