This week on The Upgrade we spoke with Andy Boyle, author of Adulthood for Beginners: All the Life Secrets Nobody Bothered to Tell You. Adulthood for Beginners is a funny book filled with life advice on everything from dating to job seeking to “generally not looking like a dumbarse”.
Andy is also a comedian, web developer and speaker, as well as owner of a fluffy cat named Tiberius. He joined us in the studio to talk about all of the things he wished he had known as a young adult.
Listen to The Upgrade above or find us in all the usual places where podcasts are served, including Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Stitcher and NPR One. Please subscribe, rate and review!
This Week’s Discussion
We learned quite a lot from Andy Boyle, including:
- How to go viral (twice)
- The secret to remembering someone’s name (it involves fighting)
- How not to be a dick
- How handshakes are like fonts
- How to use the “Arsehole Test”
- Why Tom Hanks is like Jesus
- What he learned from quitting drinking
- Why it’s cool to be a fan of anything — even Nickelback
