How To Access Slack’s Secret Dark Mode On IOS And Android

If I could, I would use all my phone’s apps in dark or night mode. Night mode is easier on your eyes and easier on your device’s battery. Now Slack is finally testing a dark mode for its iOS and Android apps.

The dark mode isn’t officially a part of the apps use yet, and instead is currently available exclusively to members of Slack’s beta testing program. The good news is you can join that program right now and get access to the feature.

To do it on iOS you’ll want to go to this page, and for Android this one (which will direct you to Google Play).

Note: It can potentially take a few hours between when you sign up and when you’ll actually be admitted to the program. For me, it took around 10 minutes for a new version of Slack to show up in the Play Store.

After you’re in, you’ll need to update the app in order to get into the beta program. Then you’ll see a dark mode option under the “General” tab of your settings menu. From there you can toggle the feature off and on. If you did all that and don’t see it, try restarting app.

Worth noting as well, toggling back and forth between the mode requires you to restart the app, so it’s something you want to do when you have a little bit of time, not mid-conversation with your boss.
