The Grammys 2019: When And How To Watch Live In Australia

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards kicks off this morning, returning to the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Alicia Keys takes on hosting duties this year and some big names including Cardi B, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ricky Martin and Miley Cyrus are slated to perform. Here’s all the ways to watch the Grammys in Australia.

What Is The Grammy Awards?

The Grammy Awards is the music industry’s night of nights, where The Recording Academy hands out tiny golden gramophone trophies for achievements in (mostly) English music. The ‘Big Three’ awards – Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year – are awarded towards the end of the show and are the huge drawcards, but a wide range of genre-specific awards are handed out throughout the evening.

However, most people tune in for the long list of performances from artists all around the world because they are some of the most memorable televised performances of all-time. For instance, take Jennifer Hudson’s stirring tribute to Whitney Houston or when Prince and Beyonce killed it. You can come for the awards, but you’ll stay for the performances (and any potential lip-syncing gaffs).

What Time Do The Grammys Start In Australia?

Officially, the Grammys kick off at 12:00pm AEDT. Depending on whether or not you want to get in on the Red Carpet action, you may want to begin your viewing a little earlier.

How To Watch The Grammy Awards 2018 Live In Australia

If you’ve only got access to free to air TV then you’re out of luck: Channel Seven has relinquished its broadcasting rights this year. This means you’re stuck with the Fox8 channel on Foxtel. Fortunately, it’s possible for new customers to sign up for a free trial. (Click here for more information.)

If you’re not too fussed on the awards and just want to see what everyone is wearing, then the entire Red Carpet will be streamed on the Grammys Facebook page. You can get to that simply by clicking right here. You can also access it from the Grammy’s homepage.
