If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to boost your DVD library head over to Amazon. They have dozens of great movies – not the usual suspects of poor rip-offs and telemovies toy usually see in the bargain bins – on sale for less than $5 on DVD. And there are Blu-ray versions of many for less than $10. Here are the highlights.

If you want to look through the entire catalog of movies, from the Fox Studio, pop over to Amazon’s Fox Great Movie Sale for a look.

I watched Independence Day: Resurgence on a plane recently and while it’s not quite as much fun as the first instalment, it’s not a total waste of 114 minutes. It kept me entertained, unlike The Greatest Showman – 15 minutes of that was enough for me.

This is perhaps my favourite sci-fi movie of the last few years. It’s become a “go to’ movie when I want to watch something that doesn’t treat me like a fool. And, as well as being smart, it’s very entertaining.

If you’re looking for something for younger members of the family, then these four flicks could fit the bill

Battle of the Sexes plots the story of an infamous moment in sports history as Billie Jean King looks horns with misogynistic former player Bobby Riggs. It’s a great movie that covers a chapter in sport that has had massive, long-term repercussions.

The Kingsman movies are gratuitous in almost every way. But they are fun. Well worth a look.

For those looking for some more serious movies, these last few are all great. All four will cost you less than $20 and provide you with many hours of entertainment.
