Huawei’s Matebook X Pro finally provides a real competitor for the MacBook Pro, and the good news is it’s now available for pre-order in Australia! If you’re thinking of jumping the Apple ship, or just looking for a new laptop, here’s what you need to know.

Though Huawei is most known for its smartphones, like the recent Mate 20, it’s also been pushing into other tech segments of late. The Matebook is the result of that.

The Matebook X Pro takes on Apple’s 13-inch Macbook Pro, and it does it well. As Gizmodo’s Sam Rutherford said: “for every downside of Apple’s top laptop, Huawei seems to have an answer.”

The Matebook X Pro is a 13.9-inch laptop, and comes in two different models: the i5 and the i7.

So what’s it like? Let’s take a look at the specs first:

Price

Here’s the best news yet about the Huawei Matebook X Pro: it’s currently on sale. The Microsoft Store has snapped up this new laptop for sale and is currently offering pre-orders for $1699 for the i5 and $2299 for the i7, $200 and $300 off the RRP respectively.

That’s a great price for the amount of punch you’ll get out of these gorgeous laptops, and it’s worth taking advantage of the Huawei laptops’ relatively low profile in Australia at the moment.

Release Date

The Matebook X Pro is currently available for pre-order on the Microsoft store, with the release coming in just under a week on November 22.

We don’t know whether the current sale price will continue once the Matebook leaves pre-order, so you’re best to jump on it now if you want to get your hands on the Matebook X Pro for cheap.
