How To Make And Receive Skype Calls Using An Amazon Echo

This week Amazon started rolling out Skype support for Amazon Echo devices. With the feature, you can both make and receive Skype voice calls using something like an Echo Dot and make video calls using Amazon’s Echo Show.

Before you can start using it, you need to link together your Skype and Amazon accounts. To do that open the Amazon Alexa app and then go to Settings followed by Communication and then Skype. From there, enter in your Skype login information to connect the two accounts.

Once you’ve connected the two, you’ll get 100 minutes of free calls to use over the next 2 months.

After everything’s set up, you can make Skype calls through your Alexa device by saying something like “Alexa call Bob on Skype.” When calls come in, you can simply say “Alexa, pick up” to connect the calls. If you’d like to call a number that isn’t in your contacts you can do that too by simply asking Alexa to call that number using Skype.

If you’re not already a Skype user there’s. Not a huge reason to set this one up, but if you are it can make placing and receiving calls a lot more seamless.
