What’s Coming And Going On US Netflix In October 2018

Netflix is going all-in on Halloween this month, with a new set of original horror and horror-ish films and shows every Friday. There’s also new non-scary stuff, like Samin Nosrat’s cooking show Salt Fat Acid Heat. Here’s everything coming and going on Netflix in October.

Highlights

Movies

There are tons of Halloween-themed stuff out this month. Oldies like Blade, The Devil’s Advocate, The Green Mile, and The Shining show up on the 1st. Halloweeny originals include Malevolent and Apostle, and something called Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil.

Other classic movies coming on the 1st: Billy Madison, Blazing Saddles, Empire Records, and The NeverEnding Story.

Shows

Sabrina the Teenage Witch gets a darker, trashier reboot as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Anime Castlevania returns for season 2. For kids, there’s Super Monsters season 2, and new anthology Creeped Out. There’s lots more stuff with titles like The Haunting of Hill House, which we’ll leave to the reviewers to sift through. The one that’ll really keep us up nights is probably the second season of Making a Murderer.

Or watch something calming: Chef and food writer Samin Nosrat hosts a show based on her deconstructed cookbook Salt Fat Acid Heat. You could also try part four of Terrace House: Opening New Doors, which we’re told is the calming reality show’s best season.

Not much of a month for old TV. Some of you might be excited for Schitt’s Creek season 4? Sorry, it’s more of a Hulu month.

Comedy

Joe Rogan, Ron White, Mo Amer, and Adam Sandler have new specials up this month, and two pre-existing Kevin Hart specials arrive on the 1st. Comedian Hasan Minhaj has a new weekly show, Patriot Act. And the series The Degenerates features comedians Big Jay Oakerson, Joey Diaz, Liza Treyger, Yamaneika Saunders, Christina P., and Brad Williams.

Last Call

Netflix actually loses a lot of horror in October, including Scream 2, Curse of Chucky, The Human Centipede 2, The Babadook, and Donnie Darko (actually what genre is Donnie Darko?).

October also means no more Trading Places, Boogie Nights, Bad Boys, Sin City, Full Metal Jacket, season 1 of Freaks and Geeks, or seasons 1–5 of 90210.
