The library can be overwhelming when you’re just trying to pick up a light weekend read. Unless you know exactly what you want, you might need a nudge in the right direction. Luckily, the library’s got you.
The Brooklyn Public Library is offering a new service called Bklyn BookMatch, as discovered by Boing Boing. You answer a few questions about your taste in books and related media, and in a couple of weeks you’ll receive five titles, customised just for you.
The one caveat is that it may take a while to receive a response, because someone is actually reading and considering your answers. In fact, demand has been so high that you might need to wait a little longer than the advertised two weeks. As the library explains on its website:
Note: we’ve received a high volume of requests due to recent publicity of the service, and your response may take longer than two weeks. Please be patient with us, there’s a librarian on the other end!
The form does ask if you have a Brooklyn library card, but it seems as though the service is open to anyone around the world, which is classic public library. They just want us all to read the books we love best.
