It’s work noting that all the units below are running Celeron CPUs that were released over two years ago. So, if you’re looking for cutting edge tech, it’s unlikely you’ll find it in this price range. But you’ll still pick up a machine that can handle basic productivity tasks and most school education.

Asus C202SA-GJ0066 Premium Rugged Education Chromebook

Kogan is selling this education-market focussed 11.6-inch Asus Chromebook for just $323.15 plus shipping. While the CPU insult super powerful – it’s an Intel Celeron N3060 – and it runs just 4GB of memory and a paltry 16GB of storage, that’s probably enough to get by if all that you do is on the cloud.

HP x360 11.6″ Celeron Chromebook 11-ae001TU

Although this HP Chromebook from Officeworks costs $154 more than the Asus model, it beefs up the storage to 32GB and has about three hours better battery life at 11.5 hours.

Acer CB311-7H-C6H2 11.6″ Chromebook

This $399 Chromebook with 16GB of storage from JB HiFi sits between the Asus and HOP models we looked at when it comes to price. Like the others, out has an 11-6-inch display running at 1366 x 768 which is good enough for watching a movie while you’re on the go or working on documents, spreadsheets and presentations – assuming you don’t fill the limited storage.

Acer NX.GC2AA

At a touch over $350 including shipping, this Acer Chromebook bumps the screen size up to 14-inches while retaining the display resolution a the same 1366 x 768. Like the other, the spec sheets is uninspiring with a Celeron power plant, 4GB of memory and 16GB of storage. But if a larger screen is what you want then this an option to consider.

Lenovo 20100e Chromebook

At $449, the Lenovo 20100e bumps the storage up to 32GB and, while it offers a Celeron processor, it does go for a slightly higher spec CPU and offers some ruggedising. Battery life is rated at around ten hours and there are USB-C and USB-A ports as well as a built in card reader.
