Determine When The ‘Magic Hour’ For Taking Pics Is With This App

iOS: When it comes to taking pictures outside, there’s definitely something to be said for snapping that shot during the “magic hour”. However, figuring out when that is, especially when you’re travelling, can sometimes be a bit of a challenge.

Helios is a Magic Hour calculator for the iPhone and iPad that lets you know the best time to head outside with your camera.

The app’s main screen has a sun path diagram. Input your location, and the app will let you know the timing of the golden and blue hour each day as well as when you can expect sunrise and sunset.

The $1.49 app also has a built-in light meter to help you tweak your camera’s settings. Push notifications will also remind you when the Golden Hour goes down, so you can make sure to head outside with your camera and do some shooting.

It definitely isn’t an app for everyone, but if you’re just getting into photography or shooting in a new location, it can be a helpful tool to have (literally) in your back pocket.
