Many of us firmly believe McDonald’s french fries are the best french fries. But you don’t have to head to Maccas to indulge — here’s a nearly identical version you can make at home.
POPSUGAR has reverse-engineered McDonald’s approach. Like Serious Eats’ copycat recipe, which we’ve salivated over before, PopSugar’s take uses peanut oil instead of the mix of oils McDonald’s uses (but omits the vinegar in Serious Eats’ version).
This version also adds corn syrup in place of McDonald’s use of dextrose, to help the fries caramelise, and adds beef fat to replicate McDonald’s beefy flavour bath. As with making extra extra crispy fried chicken, you’ll give the potatoes a second fry for super crispiness.
Check out the very enthusiastic video above for the whole process or the link below for the text version.

So much effort still….
BS. McDonalds fries are the worst thing on their menu (and that’s saying something). Give me Minimum Chips cooked in good old Crisco from the local greasy spoon any day!
I’m sorry but I’ve never had chips from some small local fish and chip shop or takeaway shop that aren’t fucking disgusting and oily and make me feel sick for the rest of the day. They can all close down and be replaced with a Maccas for all I care.
