Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Release Date And Specifications Leaked [Updated]

Better start saving up now Galaxy Note fans, because the next model of Samsung’s flagship smartphone will be launching in just over a month. We now have a pretty good idea of what to expect beneath the hood. Here’s everything we know so far.

The Galaxy Note 9 smartphone will be officially unveiled by Samsung on August 9 according to the latest leaks on Bloomberg. In addition, we now have a credible list of specs, including the CPU and camera.

As reported on Bloomberg, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is now expected to launch at an ‘Unpacked’ press event in New York on August 9 – which is a few short weeks away.

Keen Note fans will have noticed that this is a few weeks earlier than the launch event for last year’s model, which took place on August 24. It has been speculated that Samsung is attempting to get the jump on the next Apple iPhone X which is tipped to drop in late September.

New camera, new processor, new Bixby

Bloomberg’s source also revealed more about the phone’s specifications. As expected, it will come with an improved camera which now boasts an adjustable aperture, a super slo-mo video mode (as found in the Galaxy S9) and “multiframe noise reduction” for crisper low-light images.

If Bloomberg can be believed, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will also come with a zippier Snapdragon 845 processor (the same one found in the Oppo Find X) and the second iteration of Bixby, Samsung’s Siri-style digital assistant.

Now, these same intrepid phone spies have managed to get their hands on the phone’s signature stylus. Their verdict. “The biggest update in the history of the S Pen.” Lawks.”]

S-Pen gets a major upgrade

Naturally, there will also be improvements to the S Pen stylus which is the phone series’ main claim to fame and point of differentiation. Indeed, serial phone leakers Ice Universe have described it as /”a pen with a soul”.

Apparently, it will be used to control music playback and will come with inbuilt Bluetooth which may allow you to make and receive calls. A context-free image on the Samsung Unpacked invitation depicts what appears to be a button on a cylindrical device. Could this button relate to the S-Pen’s new Blutooth or speaker functionaloty?

Otherwise, the phone is expected to be quite similar to last year’s model. This is backed by a leaked image of the Note 9 screen which is virtually indistinguishable from last year’s model.

All will hopefully be revealed on August 9 – you can rest assured that we’ll have all the official information as soon as it drops.
