Another day, another yammering Samsung Galaxy S10 rumour. Today's noteworthy leaks centre around a trio of front-facing cameras (or was that yesterday?), a 3D-face scanner, an "absolute ripper" of a CPU and a fingerprint sensor embedded right into the display. Here's everything you need to know.
The Samsung Galaxy spy reports are coming so thick and fast that it's difficult to keep track. At this rate, literally every conceivable hardware permutation will be 'leaked' prior to the phone's launch, meaning someone will be right by default. But anyway. Onto today's potential scoops!
According to South Korean outfit The Bell, Samsung's next Galaxy S flagship will come with a fingerprint-sensing touchscreen.
If true, this means the phone will be able to rock a truly bezel-free display - a notion that's already backed up by a leaked photo from Ice Universe. It also means you won't fumble around for the sensor, drop your phone in the toilet and be forced to think about microscopic poo for 1.5 years. (Ban waterproofing, that's what I say. Also, don't borrow my phone.)
Instead, you'll be able to touch the front screen anywhere for instant phone access. Who needs Face ID, eh? Well, apparently Samsung does - the same report claims the S10 may be coming with 3D facing scanning technology similar to Apple's. Although where this will fit on a bezel-free display remains to be seen.
Elsewhere on the interwebs, there have been rumblings of a triple-lens camera. This is something Huawei has already brought to market with the P20 Pro, a phone that has been incredibly well received. (Well, apart from the whole 'MSS-spooks-spying-on-you' thing. Allegedly.)
While the report does not mention specifications, it's safe to assume that Samsung will be looking to match the P20 Pro's photography chops, which could mean a 40+ megapixel sensor.
Last week, online investigators unveiled the first screen images and case renders of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Now, these same intrepid phone spies have managed to get their hands on the phone's signature stylus. Their verdict. "The biggest update in the history of the S Pen." Lawks.
All that image processing will be powered by a Exynos 9820 CPU, claims an earlier report from SamMobile. This will feature a next-gen Mongoose M4 core that will significantly outperform existing chipsets. It could potentially boast a core clockspeed of 3.30GHz or over.
Okay, so it's not quite the folding phone of the future, but the Samsung Galaxy S10 is shaping up to be a very significant upgrade. If these rumours pan out, it will certainly have enough bells and whistles to justify the model name's move into double digits. (Just don't call it the Galaxy SX, Samsung. You're better than that.)
The concept of an Android smartphone that you can fold up and put in your pocket is inching closer to reality. According to the latest leaked reports, Samsung's long-rumoured folding Galaxy X is set to make its debut in under a year. Here's what you need to know.
