Rather than looking up all those professional photography terms piecemeal, why not take a crash course in 25 of the most important ones? Even better, you can do it entirely in video form which, as we all know, is the best form.
This sub 12-minute clip from Vincent Ledvina covers a lot of familiar terms, such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO, but also sneaks in a few you may not have heard often (or ever), including “bokeh” and the “exposure triangle”.
Ledvina created the video because he was dissatisfied with the amount of “misinformation about how photography works”, according to the YouTube description:
Today, there’s so much misinformation about how photography works: the science, theory, and technology behind how images are formed. In this video I wanted to provide not only the definitions of key photography concepts, but how they relate to each other, gradually explaining the photo-taking process as a whole.
Sure, you won’t know everything after you finish watching, but hopefully, you’ll come out the other end a bit more informed.
