How To Customise What Memories You See On Facebook

If you’re tired of seeing all of those “on this day” posts on Facebook, you’re going to hate Facebook’s latest update. The social network launched a new Memories page this week, essentially an expanded version of its “On This Day” feature where you get the pleasure of reminiscing about that burger you ate one year ago today or that time you posted that drunk selfie.

There are, however, things that all of us would prefer to not remember. For instance, you might not want to be reminded of things you did with your ex or the death of a family member. For situations like that, Facebook offers the options to filter specific people and dates out of its “On This Day” posts.

To do it, go here and click the Preferences button at the top of the page. From there, a menu will pop-up where you can add people and dates you don’t want to remember. Once they are on the list, they will be omitted from future memory dumps, like your own private Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

And if you hate the idea of looking back in general, you can also turn off “On This Day” notifications across Facebook. To do that, click the button marked “Notifications” at the top of the page to remove the check mark (or set it to Highlights, if you only want to see your very best memories with your “top friends”).

Your memories will still show up on the specific Memories page, but they will be curated (or missing) on your News Feed.
