Google Pixel 3 Is Coming: Five Features We’re Excited About

Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones are coming soon and that means the rumours are flying thick and fast. Here are five credible leaks that have us more than a little excited.

#1 Edge-To-Edge Displays And Notches

From a design perspective, the Pixel 3 XL seems to have taken more than a few design hints from Apple’s iPhone X. We can expect an edge-to-edge display with a notch that looks narrower that Apple’s version but is expected to dip a little lower into the screen. However, there’s still a thin bezel at the bottom. The smaller Pixel 3 will also have an edge-to-edge display but will retain thin top and bottom bezels. It’s display will will be 5.4-inches, which is larger than the Pixel 2, but still retain almost the same external dimensions.

Now, an alleged photo of the actual phone has appeared online – and that telltale little rectangle is plain as day. We’re all going to have to get used to notches – they’re here to stay.”]

#2 A Third Pixel

There have been some reports that a third Pixel device will be released as well. While the Pixel 3 and the larger XL are pitched as premium devices, there’s some speculation that a less expensive model could be coming as well.

#3 Android P And Wireless Charging

Or course, they’ll all be running the most recent version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android P.

Some keen eyes at XDADevelopers picked up some changes in a recent beta of Android P that refer to Dreamliner. While the exact nature of this new service is unknown, it does seem to be related to changes in the battery status. So, the speculation is that wireless charging will be coming to the next series of Pixel smartphones.

#4 Better Cameras

With Samsung practically pitching the Galaxy S9 as a camera that can take great pictures at the release earlier this year and Apple constantly talking up the capability of the cameras in their smart devices, we can expect Google to improve their already best-in-class cameras.

#5 Speed Bump

Under the covers, we can expect the new Pixel smartphones to take advantage of the latest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 845, just as the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to have. The current Pixel devices come with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. It would be very surprising if those specs didn’t get a boost to at least 6GB or memory with a 256GB storage option.

As more rumours come to light, we’ll update this list. In the mean time, it looks like we’ll be waiting till October to get our hands on Google’s very excellent smartphone.
