Huawei P20 Pro: Australian Pricing, Specs And Release Date

Huawei have made a pretty big splash in Australia, delivering a line of smartphones that deliver on impressive internal specs and remarkably well-designed cameras. Those that got their hands on their previous high-end offerings – the Mate 10, for example – were not disappointed. Now, the P20 Pro, unveiled in March this year, is coming to Australia to shake things up even more. Here’s how much the P20 Pro will cost in Australia and when you can get it.

Huawei P20 Pro Specifications

The P20 Pro touts an iPhone X-type notch which, some will be pleased to note, can be turned off if it’s not to your liking. The phone is practically bezel-less, as is the way with phones these days, and features a coating underneath its glass back that refracts light in an amorphic rainbow of colour. It looks high-end and it plays high-end.

But it’s the camera that Huawei likes to pump up the most.

Arguably, the Leica partnership is Huawei’s big selling point and with three rear-facing cameras slapped on the back of the P20 Pro, you can see they really want to capture that phone-photog crowd. It’s not just Leica tech, either. The Master AI and Huawei’s AI Image Stabilisation means the P20 Pro is essentially a camera with a phone sticky-taped to it. It achieved DxOMark’s highest overall scores – which means it’s one of the most advanced phone cameras you can find.

Here’s a look at the chief specs:

Huawei P20 Availability

After the UK got the phone back in April, Huawei are dropping the P20 Pro in Australia in just over a week’s time – on May 18. You’ll be able to grab one from JB Hi-Fi, Mobileciti and Harvey Norman.

Huawei P20 Pro Pricing

The P20 Pro will retail for $1099, which is the same price the P10 Plus launched at last year. That price tag makes it a pretty viable alternative to the big players – Apple and Samsung – without losing too much of the speed or ability that comes with their yearly output.

Of course, at places like JB Hi-Fi, there are a few handy hints you can use if you’re looking to get a bit of a discount.
