How To Beat Jet Lag, According To Miranda Kerr

Is getting off a long-haul flight feeling (and looking) super — or even somewhat — human actually possible? Apparently yes! And to prove it we’ve roped in Miranda Kerr to show us how it’s done — because, if anyone has nailed a jet lag-proof in-flight routine, you know it’s got to be her.

We promise a first-class ticket isn’t necessary (although, we’re not going to lie, it definitely helps) to replicate this for yourself. Our advice? Follow her steps closely, because this routine really works.

1. Take it all off

When flying you’re essentially sitting in recycled air for hours, so according to Miranda, the only way to look fresh when you reach the other side is to make your skin a priority and that all starts with taking your makeup off. “The first thing I do when I get on the plane is to make sure that I remove all my makeup. When I’m on the plane, and I feel like all that [recycled] air is around me, it’s just so important,” says Miranda.

2. Get hydrated

A combination of dry recycled air, and being stuck in one place for a (seriously) long time, can leave both your skin — and you — dry and dehydrated, which will have flow-on effect once you land. To combat this, Miranda ups her water intake and layers on her most-hydrating treatments to replenish and protect her skin. “My skin and face get really dry,” admits Miranda. “Once I take my makeup off, I’ll put on either the Noni Glow Face Oil or the Noni Glow Face Balm. They are both beautiful treatments you can use together to keep your skin hydrated during the flight. The good thing about the Face Balm is that you can also use it as a lip balm!”

3. Set the scene

If being stuck in a tiny seat, next to strangers for a few hours is your idea of a nightmare, it’s important to take the time to set the scene and get comfortable — especially if you’re on an overnight flight. Miranda suggests a quality eye mask, pillow, and carrying familiar and relaxing scents are your best weapons for getting some quality shut-eye. “I always make sure I’ve got an eye mask with me. You know the ones that don’t touch your lashes — the ones that kind of look like a bra! Then I’ll use my Calming Lavender Mist, which is really great because you can spray it on your face and your pillow,” says Miranda.

4. Supplement what is missing

Whether you’re dealing with less-than-ideal nutrition (airplane food, anyone?), inadequate amounts of sleep, or you’re just generally travelled out, supporting your health and nutrition needs to be a priority to ensure you can step off the plane as your best self. For Miranda, having travel-friendly supplements on hand is essential to fighting jet lag and keeping her wellness in check. “I drink a lot of water on the flight, and then have Noni, which is amazing for jet lag. It’s really great because it has all those vitamins and minerals to help you feel more energised,” says Miranda.

5. Get (re)energised

After spending hours stuck in airports under artificial lighting, it’s easy to think hiding away in your hotel room will be your best bet for starving off jet lag, but according to Miranda, her secret is to actually do the opposite. “When I land I try and get outside and get some fresh air, and get my feet in the grass, even if it’s just for five minutes to get some sunshine and get back into the energy of wherever you are,” says Miranda.
