Hootsuite is a popular social media management tool but it has suffered from one frustrating feature, at least for me. While it’s allowed you to create Instagram posts, it hasn’t been able to schedule and automatically publish them. Changes in the Instagram Graph mean it is now possible to schedule Instagram posts so they are automatically published.
Until now, then final steps in publishing Instagram posts via Hootsuite required manual intervention. While you could put together the image, text, hashtags and other information through the Hootsuite dashboard, the final set in publishing required you to push a few buttons. This update is most welcome.
“Scheduling and publishing of Instagram content has been the number one request for our 16 million customers,” said Ryan Holmes, CEO of Hootsuite.
The catch is you’ll need an Instagram business profile to take advantage of this feature. That’s not hard to do – here are the step-by-step instructions for creating an Instagram business account.
Wth social media now a dominant advertising and marketing channel, being able to push your business through Instagram more easily is a good thing. But I expect this change will also lead to a lot more Instagram advertising and product placement infiltrating our feeds.
