Today I spent one hour playing the game called Whamageddon. Which is tragic, since the game lasts almost a month. The rules are simple: From December 1 to December 24, avoid hearing the Die Hard of Christmas songs, the song that isn’t really a Christmas song but still gets played over every shopping centre sound system all December: Wham’s “Last Christmas”.
Yesterday, only an hour after my editor Slacked me about the game, “Last Christmas” came blasting over the office stereo. (If you’re playing, don’t click that link.) And that afternoon, just in case I wanted to call the first one a gimme, the song came on again. Christmas: Ruined.
But you can still play! In fact, you’re already playing now, whether you like it or not, like a festive version of The Game. So double-check your Spotify playlists, wear headphones next time you go shopping, and don’t be a character in a holiday-themed romantic comedy. (Covers don’t count, so go nuts with those.)
And when you inevitably hear the song and lose, you can commiserate with the other losers on the Whamageddon Facebook page.

Lol doesn’t this ‘game’ require you to be constantly thinking about that song? Seems far worse than just hearing it in the background at Target TBH.
Anyhoo, has guess i’ll Be getting wham-rolled a lot over the next few weeks if this takes off
An odd way to honor the guy who wrote this song and died last Christmas….
I haven’t heard this song in ages!
Well, it’s been a year. It doesn’t surprise me.
Does it count if i heard and sang it in my head while reading the post ?
Surprised your editor didn’t tell you about it on slack then whamroll (christwham ?) you straight away.
