When you eat at the office, you have to make do with the tools available to you. Have a coffee mug? You can use it to boil eggs for lunch, or as an impromptu shelf to fit more in the office microwave. This video from Food Beast runs through a number of office-friendly food hacks and tricks to improve your snacking.
We’ve covered quite a few of these tricks on Lifehacker in the past, but the video’s a neat summary:
A lot of the tricks in the video are ones you’ve likely seen before if you’ve been reading Lifehacker for a while. Here are a few we’ve highlighted that are also in the video:
- Create an instant snack bowl from any snack bag
- Use a banana to quickly ripen an avocado
- Boost your phone’s sound with an empty mug or cup. Or a cereal bowl. Or a glass pitcher or vase. Or a plastic cup. You know, let’s just put them all to the test.
There are plenty of other ideas in the video, including using a mug to create an impromptu shelf in the microwave so you can fit two plates in at the same time, and using a very very hot cup of coffee to boil an egg (although we’d suggest if you’re going to do that, maybe a USB mug warmer is in order to keep the heat nice and high — unless you really like soft boiled eggs.)
