Ratehacker: September’s Best Credit Card, Savings Account And Home Loan Deals


In our monthly Ratehacker round-up, Jeremy Cabral from comparison site finder.com.au highlights the latest credit card deals, plus the best savings accounts and home loans.

Credit Cards

Feature: 0% balance transfer for 24 months

NAB Premium Card: 0% per annum for 24 months on balance transfers The longer a balance transfer deal runs, the more chance you have of paying off your debt without paying any interest. The 24-month deal on this card is one of the longest-running balance transfer deals on offer right now. This offer is exclusively available through finder.com.au, and you have to apply before 31 August 2017. The annual fee for the card is $90.

Feature: 0% purchase rate

Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card: 0% per annum purchase rate for 12 months
12 months with zero interest gives you more flexibility for paying off big purchases. After a year, the 0% offer reverts to the purchase rate (currently 20.74%). There’s also a 6-month 0% balance transfer option for eligible applicants. The annual fee is $129.

Home Loans

Feature: Variable rate home loan

Tic:Toc Live-in Variable Rate Home Loan: 3.69% per annum comparison rate This online-only loan has one of the lowest variable rates on offer in the market right now. You’ll need at least a 20% deposit saved. You can add an offset account for an additional $10 per month fee, but there are no other fixed fees.

Feature: Fixed rate home loan

UBank UHomeLoan Fixed Rate: 4.15% per annum comparison rate If you want predictable payments, this is one of the cheaper offers at the moment. The rate is fixed for 12 months. This is only available to owner-occupiers with a PAYG income.

Savings Accounts

Feature: High maximum variable interest rate

Bankwest Hero Saver: Interest rates for savings account are in decline at the moment. While 2.65% isn’t the highest rate on any account right now, it’s an ongoing offer. To qualify, you need to save deposit at least $200 each month and make no withdrawals.

Money transfer

Feature: Discounted exchange rate

OFX International Money Transfers: 0.4% margin discount on all exchanges Customers using OFX will receive a 0.4% margin discount on all transfers, plus $0 online transfer fee.This offer is exclusive to applicants through finder.com.au.

Personal Loans

IMB New Car Loan: Comparison rate from 6.34% per annum This loan offers a competitive rate on purchases up to $75,000, and covers both new vehicles and cars up to two years old. You can make extra repayments, with loan terms from 1 to 7 years.
