Build Cocktails In Soft Drink Cans For The Ultimate To-Go Beverage

Last weekend while on holidays, I was suddenly overcome with the desire to consume a kalimotxo in the sand, but in no way wished to bring a wine glass to the beach. So, rather then get a plastic cup involved, I dumped out about half a can of Coke — setting it aside for later use — and filled that now free space with red wine.

Not only did I then have a beverage contained in a lightweight, shatter-proof vessel; I also had a beverage that looked completely innocent. But the kalimotxo isn’t the only cocktail you can build in a can. Rum & Cokes, whiskey gingers, and 7 & 7’s are all obvious options, but you should probably get soda and tonic water in on the game too.

I, for one, am a huge fan of Campari and gin with pamplemousse soft drink (which you should be able to find in speciality stores), and have recently found a new friend in limeade with a bit of bourbon. The possibilities are nearly endless – the only constant is that they contain alcohol and are served straight in the can.
