Unless someone else is mixing the drinks, I try to keep things very simple when I'm out of town. I like my cocktails big (so I don't have to keep going back to the rental kitchen to mix another), fruity and strong. I've long been a fan of the Sea Breeze, which combines vodka with cranberry and grapefruit juice, but cranberries feel a little Cape Cod, and I'll be drinking on the Oregon coast. To make this breeze a little more Oregon-appropriate, I swapped out the usual cranberry cocktail for some sweet and tart cherry juice.
You are of course, welcome to enjoy this beverage wherever you may be spending your weekend. To make this simply delicious sipper, you will need:
- 130mL cherry juice
- 60mL vodka
- 45mL ounces ruby red grapefruit juice
Combine everything in a large shaker filled with ice and shake until everything is super chilled. Strain into a pint glass filled with whatever shape ice your rental fridge happens to have.
