Travel Hacker: The Savvy Way To Avoid The Stress Of Your Pre-Flight Journey

Holidays and flights are really fun experiences. But even the most relaxed of us can get a little stressed when it comes to flight logistics and making sure that we have everything we need.

Fortunately, Qantas customers can let the Qantas App take care of things for them. It might not be able to pack your suitcase, but it can help make your pre-flight experience as relaxed as possible. Here’s how.

Reminders

When it comes to the day of the flight, you’ll receive a notification when check-in opens 24 hours prior to the flight.*

Pro-tip: always get to the airport early. Not only does it decrease unnecessary stress, it can help get you into holiday mode, especially if you indulge in pre-flight rituals. For example, buying specific magazines for the ride or even just sitting by the window with a celebratory drink watching the planes come and go.

Flights

From the second you book your flights you can view the booking anytime via the Qantas App with your frequent flyer login details. If your flight wasn’t linked to your membership with the app you can add it manually under the ‘Trips’ tab at any time.

From here, you will be kept up to date for every aspect of the trip. You will receive alerts regarding the departure gates, boarding times, baggage carousels and more.

If there are any flight delays, a push notification will be sent so you’re kept up to speed in real time — and hopefully spend that extra time relaxing in the lounge.

Qantas flights can also be checked manually in the ‘More’ tab of the app, which is great for checking on the flights of loved ones.

Everything In The One Place

The last thing anyone wants on a trip is having to hunt down information in a tonne of different places. With the Qantas App, all of the journey information is just a few taps away.

Flights can be viewed in the personalised trip timeline and you can check-in before you have even left home. Boarding passes can also be generated through the app. No printing necessary! When that inevitable panic moment happens at the gate when it seems that the pass has gone missing (we’ve all been there), it’ll be right there on your phone screen.

And if you have booked travel insurance, transfers, hotels, cars or even activities through the Qantas App — it will hold onto all of that information too. Although this may not seem relevant to your pre-flight experience, it is incredibly important if you’re someone who likes to know that everything is in order before they step foot in the airport.

*Qantas Mobile App check in is only available for Australian domestic and selected Trans-Tasman flights.
