Find Pride Events In Your Area With Google Maps

Android/iOS: Pride month is in full swing, and Google Maps is making it easier to discover your local Pride events, or navigate around them.

Throughout the rest of June, Google Maps will show the locations and routes of all Pride parades in 35 cities around the world, including Sydney, San Francisco, Rome, New York City, Paris and Chicago. Google Maps will also be dynamically rerouting all drivers around event locations.

Whether you use Google Maps on Android or iOS, you'll see parade routes highlighted in bright rainbow colours on the day of the event. If you tap it, you'll see an event card that gives you more information, such as a description of the festivities, event hours, and an estimation of what the traffic will be like nearby. Non-parade events will be marked with a special Pride icon and will also provide more information when tapped. The small update is a helpful tool for those looking to celebrate Pride month, as well as for those who just want to navigate around road closures and avoid heavy traffic. This isn't the first time Google has done this, but they seem to have expanded their coverage.
