Malcolm Turnbull axed the 457 visa yesterday, and in its place, we now have the Temporary Skill Shortage Visa. There’s a two year version and a four year version of the new visa, but 216 jobs are being taken off the table.
It will now also be required for applicants to complete an English language test, and pass a criminal history test (and no that doesn’t mean brushing up on your Ned Kelly).
There are 268 jobs available for the two year visa and 167 jobs available for the four year visa. The current skilled occupations list can be found here.

The amount of “skilled” 457 visa holders that are utter drops kicks and are both completely unskilled and unqualified is ridiculous. The visa scheme is nothing but cheap immigrant labour, I’m more than happy to see it over hauled.
I’m surprised most of those were on the list. Did we really have a need for homeopaths?
