Microsoft Is Shutting Down CodePlex

In a recent blog post, Microsoft has announced that it’s shutting down it’s code repository and sharing platform CodePlex. Launched just over a decade ago, CodePlex has been usurped by GitHub, which Microsoft says they are partnering closely with.

As of last Friday, no new CodePlex projects could be added with the service shutting its doors on 15 December 2017. When that happens, the site will be backed up and turned into a read-only archive.

Microsoft says they have put together a “streamlined” migration tool to help developers shift their code over to GitHub.
