Make Your Own Cheap, Compact Cat Tree From IKEA Tables

Building your own cat tree means you can customise it for your home and for your cat. Here’s a compact one you can make from IKEA Lack side tables for less than most cat trees of similar size.

Perfect for a corner or small space, you can make this four level DIY cat tree for about $80. Of course, that doesn’t include the cost of your time, but it’s a good option if you like the look and want to save some money. Here’s what you’ll need:

Use the chair brackets to secure three of the four tables together, stacked on top of each other. The brackets connect the legs of one table to the top of the table beneath it. You’ll only use the top of the fourth table to form the base of the tree. If your cat likes to scratch, either wind the twine around a few of the legs or glue it in place. You can also add custom features for your cat, like their favourite bed or a cardboard box to hide in. For extra stability store heavy items, like your cat’s litter, in the bottom level.
