Video: Sexually transmitted diseases aren’t rare — half of us will have one at some point in our lives. It’s important to tell your partner if you find out you have one, and this video from Planned Parenthood shows you how.
The conversations in the video are realistically awkward. Cringe and bear it, though, because every example ends with the couples better off for having been honest with each other. You can see examples of how to handle either side of the conversation. If you’re the person who has already come to terms with your diagnosis, this may mean educating your partner on what exactly this means for them.
The examples include a guy texting the guy he casually hooked up with about chlamydia; a man telling his female partner about HIV before their relationship gets sexual; and a young woman with herpes introducing her girlfriend to dental dams.
