Waze Will Let You Control Spotify Without Ever Leaving The App

Android/iOS: If you’re an avid Waze user, there’s a reasonable chance that you tend to pop between Waze and an audio app while you’re driving. Well, if that audio app happens to be Spotify, you’re in luck, because Waze is integrating Spotify controls directly into the app and vice versa.

Google Maps is great, but with the right tweaks, Waze can be awesome — especially in cities with lots of traffic.”]

In Waze, you’ll see a Spotify icon if Spotify is installed on your device. Tap that button and Waze shows the last played song and a set of playback controls. You can also do it in reverse, starting with the Spotify app. Open Spotify and you’ll see a Waze overlay at the top of the screen. Pick where you’re going and you’ll be able to get directions from Waze while remaining in the Spotify app.

It’s a pretty handy set of tools if you happen to use Waze and Spotify, and something that navigation apps have been lacking for a while. We’ll have to wait and see how useful it ends up actually being, but Android users can expect to find it in the apps over the next coming weeks, while iOS users will have to wait for an unspecified date.
