Microsoft Catches Up With March Patch Tuesday

After missing Patch Tuesday in February, Microsoft has managed to get the March edition out. With 18 separate security updates it packs in a lot of fixes for dozens of vulnerabilities.

Microsoft has played a solid game of catch-up this month, patching a massive slew of vulnerabilities for a bunch of their server and desktop products.

Of the 18 separate security updates, half are listed as “Critical” and relate to remote code execution. The rest are rated as “Important”.

Critical updates deal with issues that allow remote code execution without user intervention while Important updates fix problems which could lead to a compromise if users don’t obey warnings and prompts.

Patching systems is critical to maintaining security so make sure your systems are backed up, you have your roll-back plans ready just in case, and fire up your patching processes.
