Elevator Pitch is a regular feature on Lifehacker where we profile startups and new companies and pick their brains for entrepreneurial advice. This week, we’re talking with Thanh Dang, CEO of Success Enterprise.

In 128 words or less, explain your business idea.

Success Enterprise provides world-class education to enrich the lives of business owners and entrepreneurs around the world. Business owners and entrepreneurs are the real heroes of our time as they are a major contributor to the strength of local economies and increase the standards of living for everyone. This is why I am so passionate about helping other people succeed in their businesses.

We have developed an educational platform, which we take around the country, hosting events and motivational evenings which aim to teach others how to be successful, and how to grow in business. I believe that the key to living a successful, happy and healthy life is growth, and development (both professional and personal) and this is the whole reason behind the creation of our platform.

What strategies are you using to grow and finance your idea?

I am a true believer in the business methodology of ‘OPM’ (using Other People’s Money) to grow my business and investments. I’ve utilised this concept my whole life and have had much success in the past in my other business such as SSS Strawberries. I’m now implementing the same practices with Success Enterprise.

What’s the biggest challenge facing your business?

Money management, teamwork and strategies.

This whole space is brand new to me, so in a way, I am learning as I go and trialling different strategies whilst, of course, enjoying the journey. That being said, teamwork has proven to be a big challenge. At the moment we have a small team and I could use a bigger one, however, budgets are a constraint and have to be managed effectively as certain tasks are more urgent than others. Determining these tasks and priorities are also sometimes a challenge.

How do you differentiate your business from your competitors?

We have exclusive access to some of the world’s top experts that other event management companies (especially here in Australia) don’t have. With these strong brands behind us we have credibility and trust.

What one phone, tablet or PC application could you not live without?

My calendar. Without the calendar app, my days would consist of missed appointments and very disappointed customers.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?

“The toughest sell of all time is the one between your ears” – Blair Singer

We debate daily with ourselves in our heads on activities we should/could be doing. Usually the little voice wins and we get the less important things done. Success is not far away, it is only between our ears.
