Elevator Pitch: FitazFK

Elevator Pitch is a regular feature on Lifehacker where we profile startups and new companies and pick their brains for entrepreneurial advice. This week, we’re talking with Georgio Batsinilas and Aaron McAllister, founders of FitazFK (Fitaz Functional Kinetics).

In 128 words or less, explain your business idea.

Having worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years we wanted to bring our practical experience and knowledge to the masses. We find that most fitness program have similar principles but we feel that our application and delivery of our message is what sets us apart from others. FitazFk is an online fitness brand that brings easy to use, effective guides and products to users locally and internationally. We aim to give our customers fast, effective ways to get fit fast so they can enjoy their lives.

Our program focuses on keeping the users accountable, but also giving them highly effective techniques to improve their health and well being. We now have 192K Instagram followers and a customer base of 30K.

Through social platforms and our customer database, we ask them to share their progress, questions and experiences of our products. By doing this and having our dietician and trainers on hand all the time we have to the minute support for any questions or problems that might have.

What strategies are you using to grow and finance your idea?

At this current stage we are more concerned on brand awareness rather than financial growth. We are self funded and have made a profit from day one of launching our premier product ” Fitaz in 28 Days.”

Our profits are funneled into the many diverse projects. Apart from constantly developing fitness products and our online guides we are building a 650sqm gym facility in Brisbane’s inner city suburb of Kangaroo Point. We are also looking at moving into clothing. Because of the strength of our brand locally and internationally we feel both of these are natural progressions for the business.

What’s the biggest challenge facing your business?

Lack of time is probably our biggest challenge. Being a predominately online business means we move at a fast pace. The international nature of our business and the pure volume means we need to be constantly on the ball. We are currently in an aggressive growth stage of our business meaning all of the projects and their volume in size makes time a real challenge.

How do you differentiate your business from your competitors?

We feel our no nonsense, user friendly delivery of our message is what differentiates us from our competitors. The ability to teach our customers how to be accountable to themselves and implement fast effective health fitness hacks into their life is a massive win for us. We also standout because as directors of the business, we are also ex-athletes and qualified personal trainers – together with our experience and passion for the industry and business, we can really bring a lot to the table.

What one phone, tablet or PC application could you not live without?

We cannot live without our phones! Because we of the online nature of our business together with our high level of customer interaction we cannot be with out our phone. 90% of our customers are mobile device based! That will give you an idea about how much we need to be with our phone at all times

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?

In life or in business, always do the right thing. Positive energy attracts positive energy.
