Desktop as a Service poses an existential threat to traditional VDI providers so it’s not surprising Citrix is getting on board with leveraging cloud services as the delivery vehicle for their software. XenDesktop Essentials is a subscription service that allows companies to deliver and manage Windows 10 Enterprise without the need to deploy a bunch of on-prem infrastructure.
You can purchase access to XenDesktop Essentials through the Azure Marketplace for US$12 per user per month with a 25 user minimum.
A Citrix spokesperson told me the new service will be available through local Australian data centres and conversion rates for the pricing will be applied the Azure Marketplace payment gateway.
Citrix has prepared an FAQ that should answer most other questions.
