Battle Of The Browsers: Edge Hacked Five Times In Pwn2Own Comp

This year’s Pwn2Own competition resulted in Microsoft Edge being hacked five times with Google Chrome remaining pristine. The hacks on Edge used new zero-day exploits, delivering tens of thousands of dollars to the competition winners.

The news isn’t as bad as it sounds. Although there was no successful hack on Chrome, it was helped by only one team trying to break the browser’s security.

Firefox was successfully hacked once with Safari being hacked three times although a fourth successful attempt has already been patched in the latest beta of Apple’s browser.

Interestingly, each successful attack on Edge was matched with a successful attack on the Windows kernel.
